Getting started with SensorZone: Why is configuration important?

Key considerations before you install SensorZone.

When planning the installation of SensorZone it is important to consider the following, this will ensure you maximise the effectiveness of the system and help you to meet your safety objectives or the safety objectives of your site.

We know from experience that the correct configuration is key, giving this careful consideration will mean that the system only alarms when it has to, when there is imminent danger to a person. Systems that are not configured correctly tend to have a high number of alerts that become nuisance alarms and cause  irritation and a lack of engagement with the system.

Research shows that safety solutions that people are engaged with are twice as effective as solutions that people are disinterested in. So anything that we can do to reduce unnecessary alarms will help to protect people.

While changing behaviour is always difficult we do not want people to see SensorZone as “white noise,” if an alert sounds it is really important that everyone on site recognises that it is significant. We have three questions that all SensorZone installation teams should think about:

  1. The types and size of equipment you are operating / is operating on your site.
  2. What size should the detection zone be for each machine.
  3. Site layout, where and how do we need to implement SensorZone.
